SINNERS CAN’T GIVE SACRAMENTS

The Lollards, the followers of John Wyclif, were persecuted by Roman Catholicism for several alleged heresies. The Lollard sentiment that may have stung Roman Catholicism’s raw nerve the hardest may have been that an unworthy minister couldn’t give a sacrament which if true would wreck the whole Roman system which is sacrament based.

What does the Church say the minister must intend?

The Church says that the minister must intend to do what the Church does – that is to let God’s power flow to make the sacrament function. It seems that you can mean to send the grace into the candidate if you love God and not the candidate for you want her or him to serve God. It seems that you can mean to send it if you hate God and want the person to have his grace for their own good. Then you only want to send the benefits and not the grace for when you hate God yourself how can you want him to be befriended? When you will evil on God by sin you cannot really love anyone else for you curse the only thing that can make them happy and even existing beings for you hate what keeps them in existence. So you don’t intend the grace to enter the person’s soul for their own sake either.

If unbelievers are fully positive that God does not exist then they can’t have the intention. If they just believe that he doesn’t they can still have a valid intention for they can will the following, “May God’s power flow if there is a good God or whatever”. The Church’s official tenet is that the sacraments are valid, work and are just as good when done by a reprobate as when administered by a saint. Let us see if this is possible.

If you love neither God nor the candidate you cannot sincerely have the intention. And the sacrament is just an empty ritual.

The sacramentalists' claim that unworthy ministers can still give sacraments is mistaken because the ministers are sinners and sinners have no true love for God and none for humanity.

God is infinite goodness therefore sin is the complete rejection of God. A sinner cannot want what God wants while performing sacramental rites. And the good done by a sinner is necessarily artificial - a pretence. Ergo, the sinner can’t intend to give a sacrament for God. They may think they intend to turn on his grace but they only imagine it.

A sinner cannot intend to give a sacrament so if sacraments need the right intention to be valid then none of them are valid for we are all sinners or at least the Catholic Church and her Bible (Romans 3) accuse us of being. This Bible doctrine is sufficient proof that sacramentalism is not supported by the Bible but is contrary to it.
