AN ABSURD EXCUSE FOR FORGIVING

The person who forgives will reason, "That person hurts me for he sees me as a danger. He hates his perception of me and not me and so I forgive. I understand and understanding is necessary for forgiving."

In fact a person who has warped perception is worse than the person who sees you as you are and hates you for it. That person is more dangerous. It is more rational to forgive the person who hates you because he knows you. If the person does not intend hurt to you but to his perception of you then there is nothing to forgive. You cannot talk about forgiving him for what he intended to do to you. The hurt he inflicts on you is really an accident.

Whether it is the perception of you that is hated or you you will still bleed from the knife in your back. It follows then that Christian goodness is not as good as it pretends to be.

The kind of reasoning shown by the forgiving person is only self-degradation. It's them exposing themselves to danger. Such a lack of self-respect is no basis for peace in life and with others.

To threaten people with unforgiveness of sin by God if they do not forgive, to threaten them with damnation is moral terrorism.
