Teaching of eternal torment sparks off persecuting

If Christian believers fear going to Hell to suffer forever more than a cruel death they might not be controllable by the state even if the state executes traitors cruelly.

Jesus didn't say we are to respect our neighbour as ourselves but to love our neighbour as ourselves meaning we must adore our neighbour as much as ourselves. Respect our neighbour as ourselves means we can treat a person properly despite having bad feelings for them. The Christians say that Jesus in commanding such love of neighbour did not mean that we must be crazy about everybody but only that we must treat them as we wish to be treated. They lie for he said love not respect. So we should be fanatics about saving people from Hell. By asking us to do the impossible and by threatening curses and Hell and eternal torment on those who naturally fail, Jesus was putting us on an eternal treadmill from which there would be no reprieve. We would be unable to think we can do anything right or to please him. And once we start thinking that about ourselves our relationships will rapidly break down. Jesus tries to force us to be good in an impossible way. His example will drive us to force our gospels and versions of them on others. He was asking us to let our emotions take us over so that we would persecute those who contradict our faith. And if we can't do it, that will not stop us wanting to do it.

God is supposed to be the same thing as goodness itself. This creates a sharp difference between good and evil. It makes them look opposite. Such a strong and stark view of the division never fails to encourage hatred and religious warmongering. Why? Because if you see what is called good as the best evil or evil as the worst good it is harder to get really angry and hate people who are categorised as bad because you see the truth that good and evil are actually quite close and are not really opposites in most ways. Good depends on some evil and evil depends on some good. They co-depend. Belief in the terms good and evil do enough to cause hatred but fusing God and good makes it ten times worse. The teaching of eternal punishment and final separation from God implies that sin is extremely evil and abominable. Thus the evil is magnified countless times.

If unbelievers will inevitably rot in Hell forever or be murdered by God for their unbelief then wrong belief has to be fought with violence. If you thought a religion was taking people to Hell forever, there would be something wrong with you if you didn’t hate it and its clergy and followers.

If believers admit that sincerity should be enough to get a person saved and into Heaven then they have to admit that the simpler a religion is the better for then the easier it is to be saved. That at a stroke rejects all major religions for they are complex. When a complex religion protects its flock from other religions and doctrines, it is really promoting damnation among the flock. They are persecuting or working against those who endeavour to enlighten the flock. Every time they open their mouths to teach they are doing these things. If God started religion then God wants persecution to take place. In a sense, the religion is persecuting its own by being more interested in keeping them loyal to it than in their welfare earthly or eternal.

If your religion makes it harder for people to be good and go to Heaven then you will be suspicious about other religions. Why wouldn't you be suspicious when your own religion is not up to much?

Jesus condemned anybody who won’t believe in him to everlasting perdition (Mark 16:16; John 3:18). When God censures doubt as a sin though it cannot be helped, he is threatening those who cease to believe and plunge themselves into uncertainty. He is forcing them with threats of hellfire and his abhorrence to restore their faith. When God is made by doctrines like this to look so nasty and bigoted who could blame his children when they imitate him? If he is truly perfect he must expect them to do so and if they think he is perfect they are gradually moving closer and closer to be evil and destructive when the opportunity arises.

Religion of Peace? Why Christianity is and Islam Isn't, Robert Spencer, Regnery Publishing Inc, Washington, 2007 - a curious book in that it simply doesn't mention how Christian Scriptures incited believers, eg Calvinists, to attack and destroy other believers who were thought to be heretics and doesn't mention the infallible decrees of the Roman Catholic Church commanding the violent destruction of heretics but wants to give the impression that unlike the Koran, the Christian Scriptures and the Christian religion do not make calls for religious violence
