LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION

The Christians pray the Lord's Prayer which goes, "Lead us not into temptation." The wording is wrong. It should be, "Do not put us to the final test of character to find what we are made of." Peirasmos means final test of character. See page 114, Questions of Life and Death, Richard Harries, SPCK, London, 2010. It is thought that there is no sin in praying like that. It is merely admitting you may be too weak to pass the test and strengthen your character and prove your goodness. The prayer is really saying, "I do not have faith that you can make me strong enough. I call you a liar when you promise to help me with your grace. I do not want to be tested for I'm happy with the flaws and sins I have."

The prayer contradicts 1 Cor 10:13 where Jesus' authorised apostle (so the Church says) wrote that God is loyal and trustworthy which is why he lets nobody get tested more than they can handle and always gives you a way out so that you can endure the temptation.

The Lord's Prayer itself is sinful.
