WHY GRATITUDE TO GOD IS AGAINST SEEING HIM AS FULLY HARMLESS

Gratitude is only rational and proper and real when given to a being who knows what it is doing and can do nothing for you or do harm for you but does good instead. Gratitude is recognition and imputation of free will to harm or help.  If you are grateful to God that means you are admitting he could ignore and hurt you but does not.

What does the could mean?  Does it mean he can harm but does no harm to anybody?  Or that the evidence is that he does indeed harm people but has been good to you?  Or does it mean both?  Even if God does not use the evil impulse, he has got it.  He is not pure snow.

If somebody is truly grateful to God that means they do not believe he really is capable only of good. If they think they are convinced he is good and has no potential to do bad they are deluding themselves. That could explain why believers in God attach to systems of faith such as Christianity and Islam that celebrate past violence or condone it and produce new forms of violence in the name of faith.
