DANCING IS UNCHRISTIAN

Some religions like Roman Catholicism allow social dancing between men and women though Christ warned that to deliberately excite lust was a very serious sin and one is better dead than committing it. He said that simply looking at a woman lustfully was adultery and as bad as it spiritually and significantly, he never said anything about doing harm because of that desire. It was the desire itself he had the problem with. Catholicism makes many concessions and changes to the gospel to court popularity.

The Church of Christ booklets, Shall We Dance? And A Teenager’s Answer To “Shall I Go to The Prom?” show that never does the Bible allow men and women to dance together or gay men to dance together. The Church observes that poise and fitness are no excuse for dancing and sees that men are more easily and quickly sexually aroused than women. The Bible mentions people dancing without making a judgement. David and the prodigal son danced by themselves. The New Testament condemns something called aselgia which means lasciviousness or causing lust in others (Galatians 5:19-21; Jude 4). By implication it bans dances and discos for there bodies are close together and the interaction between the sexes leads to arousal. The Bible cannot put and does not need to put a “Thou shalt not” before us on every sin.

1 Timothy 2:9 states that women must be modest and shameful. A woman that is caressed by a man for dancing is hardly shameful.

It is important too that in Galatians 5 and 1 Corinthians 6 that sexual sin is put at the head of the lists of sins as if it is the worst. In the latter, Paul says that unlike all other sins the person who has sex outside marriage sins against his own body which is so terrible for the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. This plainly infers that other sins such as being mean are not as bad though they endanger the body by making enemies and destroying mental and physical health through stress. This plainly infers that fairly harmless and responsible sex is a worse sin though it does less damage than many of the sins that are supposedly outside the body and which do not desecrate the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit detests sexual sin above all sin. He would rather see you committing a sin that brings destruction on you by making enemies who set out to kill you. This then forbids sexy clothes and dancing and anything that might lead to the sin of masturbation for the worst sin is the sin you have to take the most precautions against.
