The Third Secret of Fatima

Apparitions such as Lourdes, La Salette, Fatima and Medjugorje that promise secrets delivered only to the visionaries are definitely false for Jesus stressed the importance of things being out in the open.  Jesus told Ciaphas the high priest, "I have spoken openly to the world: I have always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither all the Jews resort; and in secret I have spoken nothing" (John 18:20/DRV).

The Third Secret of Fatima is depicted to the left. The Virgin Mary supposedly gave it during an apparition in Fatima in 1917. The official Vatican transcription of it follows and contains deliberate distortions, “before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions.”

The real version does not clearly say it was the Holy Father. Even the altered version speaks of the person being shot on top of a mountain. Yet Catholics delude themselves that it refers to the pope being shot in St Peters' Square in 1981 and is a completely correct prophecy proving that Our Lady knows the future. And the pope was been driven when he was shot he was not walking. That amount of self-deception is disconcerting. When black is called white to that extent you worry if the Church really has any objectivity at all when it comes to religion and apparitions.

On the thirteenth of July 1917, the Virgin confided a secret to the three little shepherd children of Fatima. It is called the Third Secret. The first two were first made public in 1941 though the first one was just a vision of Hell and the second was a promise that God would save the world by Mary’s heart if it complied (page 203, Fatima Revealed and Discarded). Much speculation about the contents and interest in the infamous third one has taken place. Lucia did not write down the third one until 1944 (page 204, Fatima Revealed and Discarded). The Church hid the Third Secret until it released a bit of it recently and a part of it is still under wraps.

“Cardinal Ratzinger – who has read the Third Secret, has revealed three of its key elements. These are ‘the dangers to the faith today’; ‘ the importance of the last days’; and the fact that ‘ the contents of the Secret correspond with what is announced in Scripture for the last days’. When pressed as to why the Church refused to reveal the Secret he said that ‘ it did not wish to expose itself to a charge of sensationalism’” (What is the Third Secret? page 6). The Bishop of Fatima declared that the Third Secret was not about nuclear wars but only the loss of faith (page 207, Fatima Revealed and Discarded). The Church never worried about sensationalism before. The doctrines of original sin and the resurrection of Jesus are sensationalism.

Now, if they correspond exactly then there is nothing to hide. And if the Church must hide it only because it gives dates and names. It isn’t necessary to think that the prophecy predicts the end of the world.

The public bit of the Third Prophecy says the Church will forsake the faith except in Portugal and this context suggests that the hidden bit is concerned with Church apostasy. But it could be annihilation. The Lady might have said: “The faith will always be safe in Portugal but Portugal will be destroyed”, which does not rule out the faith being safe elsewhere.

The Church lies that the Virgin correctly predicted that the dogma of the faith would always be preserved in Portugal. Portugal is a secular state. Unlike Ireland in 2012, Portugal had same sex marriage and abortion legalised. Its president is openly atheistic.

The public things the Virgin said were pretty horrific including that many countries would be wiped out. This implies a huge persecution or a nuclear war. So the secret cannot be any worse.

The only thing that the Church could want to hide in the secret is the names and dates. So why not publish it and edit the dates out for it has to be more than just names or dates? The church does not believe a word of the secret which is why the Church would not risk publishing any of it before and still keeps some of it back after publishing a bit of it recently. It would not give the dates or names for it knows fine well that nothing will happen. Perhaps the dates and people have come and gone already and it is too late for the prediction to be fulfilled.

Pope John Paul II spoke of the Third Secret at Fulda in 1980. He spoke of great bloodshed for the Church and claimed that the Church did not reveal the secret in 1960 because she wanted to be diplomatic towards communists (page 19, Fr. Bertrand Labouche, St John’s Bulletin, Society of St Pius X, August-October 1997). The secret says something terrible about communists but we don’t know what. The Virgin already said they were dangerous trouble and would spill blood. Perhaps then the secret said they would assume control of the Church.

The Virgin called for the Secret to be fully revealed by 1960 and Lucia reportedly said this (page 204, Fatima Revealed and Discarded). This was never done. This shows that the Church does not really believe in Fatima. The pope’s pilgrimages to Fatima and his approval of it are a sham. If he really believed in the apparitions he would have revealed the message.

Concerning the Third Secret we read: “On October 11, 1992, an interview took place between Sister Lucia and Anthony Cardinal Padiyara of India, Bishop Francis Michaelappa of India, and Father Francisco Pacheco of Fort Ceara, Brazil. Sister Lucia was asked by Cardinal Padiyara, “Do God and Our Lady still want the Church to reveal the Third Secret?” Sister Lucia reportedly answered, “The Third Secret is not intended to be revealed. It was only intended for the Pope and his immediate Church hierarchy. Our Lady never said that it was to be revealed to the public by 1960 at the latest. The Secret was for the Pope.” Some respected priests doubt that this interview ever took place. The controversy continues” (page 144). This shows that Lucia did not believe in the apparitions herself though her Lady promised to convert people with the miracle of the sun. The miracle was not authentic when a person who was not entirely devoted to telling the truth promised it.

But what if the conversation never took place? Of course it took place for it sounds like what Lucia who would not have the decency to criticise the pope and infer he did not believe in her apparitions would say. If true it still makes the Church hypocritical for Ratzinger said the reason for keeping the secret was to avoid sensationalism. But Lucia’s claim is a lie for Lucia never opened her mouth on this subject before then when everybody believed she revealed that it was to be told in 1960. She got the pope censured for nothing if she was telling the truth and that she is unlikely to do. She never refuted the claims that she said that the Virgin wanted 1960 to be the moment of truth before.

The year 2000 proved that Lucia was being untruthful when she said that the secret was just for the headmen in Rome.

Part of the Third Secret has been revealed in 2000 (page 36-37, What Happened at Fatima?). It describes a bishop in white being shot by men walking over a pile of corpses and it says the children got the feeling that he was the pope. Strange that they were not sure for they would have known how the pope dressed. But anyway the bishop in white goes up a mountain and there is a cross at the top of it. On his way up he passes by ruins and corpses and he is killed by bullets and arrows fired by soldiers as he prays before the cross. Then the soldiers started on bishops and religious and lay Catholics who had been with the white bishop. This is taken to predict the assassination attempt on the pope in 1981. He was shot that year on May 13 the anniversary of the first vision of Mary at Fatima. Missionary bishops wear white in the sun and all bishops wear white at Christmas and Easter and when the children refer to a bishop it implies that he was wearing a mitre and vestments. And there were no corpses in St Peter’s Square when the pope was shot. The prophecy is like something any amateur fortune-teller would dish up for it is so vague and is only partly right and something that happened to a number of white bishops. Only a fraud would make a secret out of a prophecy like that. Lucia just wanted to excite interest in her lies by creating a big frightening mystery. The Vatican was just as bad. And Pope John Paul II was worse and loved the self-aggrandising thought that heaven went to the trouble of predicting his future and making a sign of him. The strange thing is that nobody who read the prophecy before that said there was anything violent in it - they just spoke of the prophecy saying that the faith would be abandoned by most.

The fact that the Vatican has abused and probably lied about the content of the Third Secret shows that the Virgin who gave the secret for some purpose has been defeated and was not the real Virgin Mary.
