YOU CAN BE FRIENDS WITH SOMEBODY WHO YOU INVITE TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES AND TO QUESTION WHAT THEY ARE TOLD

When people talk about something incendiary but supernatural, ask their permission to give your opinion.

Avoid being too know-it all.  Suggest something and ask what they think.

Avoid telling anybody they are wrong.  Ask them what their source is and call it wrong.

One good way to inspire people to be open to thinking for themselves is to let  yourself be known as a sceptic and a thinker.  Let the books be on display on your coffee table. Wear the t shirt.  Put the fridge magnet up.

Help people see that they are the same as you but just in different ways.  The Catholic is a sceptic towards atheism.

Even believers admit that a miracle report could be down to natural causes.  They cannot show us any examples of amputated legs reappearing.  Even if they could, it would not follow that it was made out of nothing as a God would do.  Something could have used existing materials and apported them to make the new legs.

The difference between believers and the unbelievers is that they say the natural explanations are very likely inapplicable.  So the difference between believer and unbeliever is one of degree.  This gives both a meeting point.
