WHAT IF WE CAN REWIRE OUR PERCEPTION OF SUFFERING SO THAT IT READS TO US AS NOTHING?

Zen Buddhism claims to rewire our perception so that pain and suffering become nothing. Some attempt to be able to read pleasure where they appear. Commonsense would tell you to aim to make them nothing as feeling happy when you suffer sounds very hard. It’s the converse. Better to aim for the neutral at first anyway then you can go after the complete opposite. Koans such as meditating on the sound of one hand clapping help to do the rewiring.

Zen is a form of therapy not a religion. It is unable to show that the resultant nirvana, the pain and suffering being seen as nothing, is real. It is clearly a simulated reality.

# This implies that religions such as Christianity that say suffering can lead you to God and train your soul are being called cruel

# This implies that if the experience is as good as real but is not then the truth does not matter

# This implies that if your own mind can overcome reality like that then you are better than any god

# It implies that if you need to see that suffering is unreal it is all your own fault.  And you have no right to blame the person who hurts you.  And what if you can make yourself think you perceive it as if it is unreal or nothing?  If you say you can and should do that then you are saying that people who suffer have nobody to blame but themselves and deserve no help from anyone.  And indeed by asking for help they are manipulating us so we should walk away.

# It implies we are fundamentally computers for you can program a computer to think that an * is a number.
